Bust out your seersucker suit and head on over to the dispensary? Connecticut becomes the latest state to legalize cannabis.
Connecticut

out
cannabis
legalization
doesn’t

drug
anarchy
It sounds like the clash of two cultures. For most people, the image of cannabis users is one of hippies and Cheech and Chong. Quite the juxtaposition for a state that features pants with whales on them, prep schools, and sailing camp. Connecticut, like many other states, found a few things. First, that legalization doesn’t mean drug anarchy. They also found that when surrounded by legal states, what you lose is the tax revenue.
Governor Ned Lamont is committed to signing the bill. He expects that it will yield $100 million for the state coffers within a few years. He has even said he’s open to trying it after the law goes into effect on July 1st.
Whatever you think of Connecticut, it’s pretty clear that if an upper crust and culturally steeped in New England Puritanism state like Connecticut is now legal for adult use, who is left in the resistance?
There seem to be a few red-state holdouts but that can’t last much longer. With Chuck Schumer committed to putting a bill on the floor of the senate, could a bill legalizing cannabis federally land on drug warrior Joe’s desk?
