Groundbreaking Artist, Moby, Finds Success 12-Stepping
Innovator and 90s hero, Moby, is opening up about his mental health and sobriety. In a recent interview in “people” the 55-year-old talks about his traumatic childhood which includes losing an alcoholic father to a DUI accident at the tender age of 2. Moby goes on to articulate his face-off with depression and trying to treat it with cocaine and 20-some-odd beers—
NEVER RECOMMENDED.
His life took a dramatic turn when he went from collecting cans on NYC’s lower east side to buy groceries to Top 10 Hits that earned him respect, popularity, and critical acclaim. Yet, that success didn’t help his mental health either.
Today, he is a practicing vegan and strolls along in sobriety at a traditional 12-step pace.
Moby says he’s healthy and happy. He says he felt like Homer Simpson who imagined himself as a charming and sophisticated drinker but really he was a fat, sweaty, obnoxious, alcoholic. We get it, Moby. Today, he is hoping his disclosure reduces the shame and stigma associated with mental health. THC respects all roads to better health, well done Moby!
